In the northern part of Kefalonia is a beautiful village, Assos. Ammfitheatrika built around the peninsula, surrounded by pine and cypress trees, waiting for you to visit.
It is a traditional village belonging to the municipality Erisou preserved the traditional Ionian architecture for the most part. Prepare your camera because the scenery is unique and the beautiful island of Kefalonia.
One of the attractions of the village is the castle, which, together with that of St. George is one of the most important on the island. Built in the late 15th century to protect the inhabitants from pirate raids. Here were great battles in defense of Kefalonia and after a few decades the castle of Assos used by the Greek state as a prison.
This side of Kefalonia is mostly known for its beach of Myrtos as one of the finest in Europe (blue flag), but there are several small and hidden beaches worth the search. Do not forget to take a dip in the shallow green waters of the Bay of Assos.
